SCA entered the Dutch corrugated board market in 1961.

In December 1962 Mölnlycke AB started in Amsterdam, as a daughter of Mölnlycke AB in Sweden. In 1963 Mölnlycke opened her first Dutch factory in Hoogezand, producing baby diapers and sanitary pads.

In 1975 SCA took the first step towards becoming a hygiene products company with the acquisition of this Swedish personal care company Mölnlycke. This acquisition resulted in tissue, diapers, feminine hygiene and incontinence products being included in the product portfolio.

In 1995 SCA acquired a majority shareholding in the German company PWA and thus became Europe’s largest hygiene products company. PWA primarily had operations within tissue, transport packaging and graphic paper.

In 2007 SCA acquired Procter&Gamble’s European tissue business, including the Tempo brand.
