Libresse contributes to Internet art charity auction

Ten Swedish female celebrities created each a work of art illustrating different aspects of menstruation and being a young girl. Now the art is sold via the Swedish auction site Tradera. The revenues are donated to the Swedish Red Cross’ youth organization.

Linda Skugge's work of artLinda Skugge's work of art has so far attracted the highest bid on Tradera.

The project is part of the “Voice Edition” campaign, a cooperation between the Red Cross and Libresse, SCA’s feminine hygiene brand. The works of art describe thoughts and feeling and the goal is to break taboos.

The women who have contributed to the campaign are Linda Skugge, author, Malin Wollin, “football wife”, Cissi Wallin, radio show host, Maia Hirasawa, pop artist, Emma Cornér, fashion editor, Alice Svensson, singer, Marina Schiptjenko, gallerist and synth artist, Elsa Billgren, blogger, Kitty Jutbring, multi tasker and Martina Anlér, humanist.

“Self esteem and self confidence are qualities young girls need to have more of. The fact that young girls, still in the 2100th century, feel embarrassed to talk about menstruation makes it even more important to us to encourage them. Libresse’s survey shows that 76% of the girls would feel less awkward talking about menstruation if the topic was mentioned more often in blogs and magazines and if role models would discuss it,” says Margareta von Renteln, SCA.
